Coral Gardens Fun In The Maui Sun

I got a lot done over the weekend!

Including making time for a traditional summer time afternoon snorkel trip

with my niece Latai and nephew Simione.

I love being Aunty!

I love being Aunty!

We went on the Four Winds II and it was a nice glassy day out on the water.

Even the windmills were not even budging and that is a very rare occasion

for Ma’alaea where winds are known to clock in at hurricane speeds on an average Maui day.

Four Winds is a fun boat.

Four Winds is a fun boat.

The boat was filled with lots of fun loving visitors of all ages.

We were the only locals of course besides the boat crew.

On the way out we felt lucky already when we spotted a

pod of dolphins swimming along side of our boat.

I love dolphins!

I love dolphins!

Then as we came upon the Coral Gardens snorkel destination,

we saw a nice size baracuda skimming the ocean surface

like a flying fish, chasing his afternoon meal.

As we docked off the Pali, the water glistened with visibility

showing off its colors of corals below.

Dont you just want to jump in?

Don't you just want to jump in?

Fish littered the water as everyone bustled about putting on their snorkel gear.

We all jumped in, the whole boat that is,

except for Simione who is still afraid of swimming in deep water for some reason.

If there is a next time, he promised me he would jump in.

If he doesn’t, I am putting the life vest on him and throwing him in!

But he had the glass bottom to go in if he wanted to.

After seeing all of my favorite reef fish, the smell of the BBQ was too hard to resist!

It was great to be out on the water soaking up the sun

and cooling off in the waters of the Pacific Ocean.

Then on to the water slide we went….over and over again!

I felt ageless

as I jumped off the bow of the boat

with all the kids,

holding on to my bikini of course!

Snorkeling is FUN!

Snorkeling is FUN!

The Hawaiian Word Of The Day Is: kai’au

(pronounced kah-ee-ah-ooh)

OR

Sea too deep to walk in…swimming sea.
