Jacaranda Moment

Old Makawao Jacaranda Tree

Old Makawao Jacaranda Tree

The Upcountry Maui Jacaranda Season is in its peak!

As the sun sets on little Makawao Town, I could not help and enjoy this quiet moment.

Purple Bliss.

Jacaranda Sunset

Jacaranda Sunset

With the wind dying down,

all you can hear is a few chickens at the farm feeding on their evening meal.

The breath of the horses grazing and swishing their tails.

The shadows play with the dwindling light.

Mind is joined to matter.

Finding truth in inner experience,

a clear knowledge of facts

to apply to personal discovery,

in the practical demands of everyday life!

Read Between The Lines…

I am saddened when I watch the news these days.

It seems to get progressively worse every time I in-frequently tune in.

When I visit my dad every week, I get my dose of the what’s going on in this crazy world we live in.

I love hearing his inside scoop on what the mainstream media is feeding the general public.

You have to read between the lines.

I like watching Democracy Now for the headline news.

I like the diversity of the views they represent that are pivotal on the issues being reported on.

They will report stories that CNN or NBC would never cover.

So many disasters and deaths that could be prevented….when will we learn the lesson?  So we have this huge oil disaster but with 3500 offshore rigs, are we looking at making sure it won’t be repeated?  Can we imagine this disaster which is immeasurable at this point and times it by 3500!  Hello?  Meanwhile even more exploratory oil projects are about to head up to Alaska and the Artic.  Are they next?  Will we learn when there is no marine life left?  All for money….money can’t buy your heritage.  All I know is that when I can buy a new car, I will trade in my otherwise gas efficient small vehicle for a HYBRID for sure.

Of course I also watch the news on my Democracy Now iphone app,

but watching it with my dad on normal TV is even better to get his opinion on things

and to at least share some laughs through some otherwise very serious issues.

Dad has been actively watching the world we live in for 75 years

with only the best recommendations on solutions to creating peace on earth.

In fact his 30 year complaint has been filed finally in Federal Court

so we shall see what happens on his next court date in JULY.

So while I think I might have issues in life,

when I see what is going on around the planet we all live on,

I am humbled and in awe of the paradise we call home.

I am thankful to live in a place that is better underneath the sun

because the people have the spirit of love to share..the aloha spirit.

Educate yourself and make sure that the legacy you are leaving behind

is one that promotes love and peace as that is the greatest of all things….

not just on our planet, but beyond into the infinite universe.

Let’s unite and live together - let your light shine to make the world a better place.

Had to make you laugh!

Graduation Season

My high school graduation with my brother Imua!

My high school graduation with my brother Imua!

I can hardly believe it is graduation weekend on Maui!

This year, I only know a few graduates which are my summer interns

from Kamehameha Schools from last summer.

But graduations are one of those joyful occasions that bring the whole family together.

Like weddings and funerals!

Dukes Nephew Caleb graduated a few years ago from Kamehameha Schools.

Dukes Nephew Caleb graduated a few years ago from Kamehameha Schools.

I don’t ever remember commencements on Maui in May

but when I noticed so many cars driving by with congratulation messages

written on the windows, I knew it was that time of the year again!

KKHS - King Kekaulike High School graduation was last night!

My sister Katie graduating a few years ago with her teaching degree!

Randy went to Pukalani Superette the other day

and said they are stocked up with choke leis for sale.

I remember the day in 1996 when I graduated from Baldwin High School.

I thought it would never come.

Then came the journey after through my college career.

My other sisters graduation many moons ago!

My other sisters graduation many moons ago!

After 5 years I received my Bachelors Degree and was honored

to give a speech at our commencement which was a dream come true.

I remember moments in my speech when the dignitaries turned their head

as I am sure they had not heard a speech like that before!

I had to bring in my spiritual cosmic perspective….

and remind people education is the business of living

and it should continue throughout our lifetime

and that the high mission of education is to

crystallize the emotions of time into the thought of eternity!

My second college graduation with mom and dad!

All I have to say is I have come a long way and I am so thankful

to be at this experienced level of my life right now!

Congratulations to all the graduates of 2010!

The best is yet to come!

A Killer Occupation!

When people shop at our gallery, they often tell me they only wish

they could work here on Maui and are envious of the lifestyle we live.

The drive home from work!

The drive home from work!

Managing this beautiful gallery has been my ultimate occupation for at least 13 years now

....totally killer occupation dude!

Well, if you thought I have a killer occupation,

wait until you see what my fiance Duke’s office looks like!

Clocking In To Work

Clocking In To Work

This is his beach…Wailea Beach.

He sets up a majority of the umbrellas and beach chairs you see in this image.

He really works hard down there and they are lucky to have him.

He is my beautiful beach boy!

Beach Umbrellas!

Beach Umbrellas!

In the old Hawaiian days, the resort used to let him play his ukulele

when much of the hard work was complete.

Now a days, they see it as a personal liability!

OH well…it is still something the return guests ask for and expect.

These days he has had a birds eye view on the filming of a new movie by Adam Sandler.

His office is their set!

Take 2!

Take 2!

I have heard so much on the coconut wireless about who is there with him….

like Nicole Kidman and Jennifer Anniston, a long with his usual crew of actors.

I had some customers show me shots they captured around the pool area on their little hand held camera…shots of these movie stars and their families.

This is what Duke deals with on an ordinary basis.

They love Duke!

And if you think that is a killer occupation,

wait until you see what these guys have to go through!

Silly Boys!

Silly Boys!

Some shots are too far for these Paparazzi to capture.

They have to stay behind this line as a resort rule.

They do anything to get that shot.

Their occupation can actually be killer….

imagine falling off one of these ladders!

When they get in front of vehicles on the move, they can get run over.

Killer Fun!  At least they have a job!

Funny though….I don’t see any women taking on this occupation… well in this shot at least!

Getting Away At The Gazebo…

iPhone Panoramic

iPhone Panoramic

I took a little trip out to Kahakuloa on Sunday May 2nd.

It feels like you are going to Hana for a second in its own country way.

Getting away from the hustle and bustle of town.

We arrive and instantly a peacefulness cloaks my body, mind, and spirit.

I was so happy to be back at the most perfect wedding location on Maui!

This is the lawn where our main tent will be set up.

It is incredible!

Gazing at the gazebo,

the view is breathtaking and the little waterfall is flowing nearby.

What more could I ask for?

The little waterfall flows in the distance.

The little waterfall flows in the distance.

I brought along my fiance Duke of course,

and for the first time my maid of honor

and one of Duke’s groomsmen -

to grasp the fullness of our wedding location.

We discussed the details and did lots of wedding planning visualizing as we went.

I feel GREAT to have brainstormed lots of ideas and many details are coming together perfectly.

I am so happy I can’t describe the feeling.

So HAPPY!

So HAPPY!

I have waited so patiently for this time in my life and to watch it unfold is such a blessing.

My happiness consists not in the abundance of material possessions,

but eternally essential in putting spiritual values first.

One last look before we head home...
